Die Grundidee des Liedes war schon einige Jahre alt, als ich es in Nashville aufgenommen habe. Mir gefiel der „Genosse Soldat“, der ins Land der Tapferen zurückkehrt. Die Bridge mit dem „Hass der Väter, der den Weg erleuchtet“, habe ich kurz vor der Aufnahmesession geschrieben. Für mich ist dieser Song untrennbar mit der Stimmung in den USA vor dem Irakkrieg verbunden. Und dann sind da diese unglaublichen Gitarrenklänge von Doug Lancio und die harmony vocals von Kim Parent. | ||||
